What you need to know about academic confidence
What this support covers, and how the lessons work.
Some students understand the work and still go blank in class, on homework, or in a test. Academic confidence tutoring is practice on that stuck point, in the subject they are studying.
Lessons are one-to-one and slower than a classroom. The tutor finds the step that breaks down, explains it, and has your child try it again.
This is tutoring in the subject your child is already taking. It is not educational psychology, and it is not a diagnosis or an assessment for exam accommodations. If the gap is the syllabus, we match a tutor for that subject. We do not promise a mark.
What we offer
The subject your child is already taking
Practice on the step that makes them stop
A pace slower than the classroom
Not a psychological assessment
Does your child freeze when it is time to show the work?
Academic confidence lessons slow down the stuck part and practise it until your child can do it without the tutor. This is not a clinical assessment.
Does any of this sound familiar?
Expecting a diagnosis from a tutor.
We teach the subject. If you need an assessment, that is a different service from a registered practitioner.
Only revising content when the block is starting the question.
We practise the first steps of an answer, not only the topic notes.
Promising a child a distinction after a few lessons.
We talk about the work in front of us. We do not promise a result.

Share the subject, the curriculum if there is one, and the deadline.
We match a tutor
We shortlist a tutor for that kind of support.
A plan for the work
The tutor plans lessons around the task you brought.
Start lessons
One-to-one online lessons. We explain and give feedback. We do not do the work for you.
Here's what sets us apart
Help with this task
We match a tutor for the support you asked for, whether that is exam practice, study skills, writing, research, homework, or an application.

No group classes. Each lesson works on the task you brought and the deadline you have.
The work stays yours
We explain and give feedback. We do not write the homework, essay, research, or application.
Progress You Can See
A plan and feedback on your child's own work. We do not guarantee a grade or a university place.
Interactive Platform
Live whiteboard, shared resources, and real-time collaboration.
What we cover
What we cover for academic confidence
What a tutor helps with. We do not do the work for you.
The stuck step
We look for the point where the work stops, then practise that step until your child can do it.
Showing the working
In tests, marks often depend on what is written down. We practise setting the answer out, in the style of their exam.
A short routine
How to start a question, check one step, and move on, so a blank page does not take the whole lesson.
What this is not
We do not assess for a learning difficulty, and we do not arrange exam accommodations. Those sit with the school or a registered practitioner.
Common mistakes
And how working with a private online tutor can help your child avoid them

Study strategy
How lessons work for academic confidence
Name the task, then work on that. We do not do it for you.
- 1
Before the first lesson
Name the task
Tell us the subject, the curriculum if there is one, and the deadline. Bring the brief or the homework.
- 2
Before you book
Meet the tutor
The free Meet and Greet is a conversation. You decide whether the tutor understands the task.
- 3
While the task is open
Weekly lessons
Lessons explain the work and practise the next step. Your child does the piece that will be handed in.
- 4
Before the deadline
Feedback
The tutor comments on your child's draft or working. We do not rewrite it.
Tactics
Bring the question, the worksheet, or the university page.
Say if this is assessed work.
Book a subject tutor as well if the gap is the syllabus.
Recommended approach
Start when the task is set, not the night before it is due. A short run of lessons can still help if the deadline is close, as long as your child is doing the writing.
What your child will achieve
What you can expect from academic confidence tutoring
Realistic outcomes when your child commits to the process
Practice on the step that usually stops the work
A way to start a question and keep going
Tutoring that stays inside the subject
No claim of a diagnosis or a guaranteed mark
A tutor explains and gives feedback. We do not do the homework, essay, research, or application for you, and we do not guarantee a grade or a place.
Frequently asked questions about academic confidence
Is this counselling or an assessment?
No. It is one-to-one tutoring in the subject your child is studying. We do not diagnose, and we do not run a psychological assessment.
Can you arrange extra time in exams?
No. Accommodations are decided by the school or the exam body. We can help your child practise the paper they will sit.
Do you guarantee higher marks?
No. Lessons aim at the work your child can do more steadily. A mark depends on the exam and on their own answers.
